He sounds like he is just a nice guy. You may be reading more into than there is at this point. And yes, if you are not used to having a nice guy, be nice and email you, then you need to just let this play out. Enjoy the friendship and don't spoil it by thinking it is something more. Work on your "friend" skills first. Learn to be a friend to him and others. Being interested in him is ok. Your smile tells people that you like them. He noticed it. Smile more!
